Development Agreement Provides Cost-Effective, Standards-Based Acute and Ambulatory Bi-directional Connectivity for NextGen EHR Systems.

Leading healthcare information technology provider InteliChart, Inc. today announced the completion of a development agreement with RelayHealth, establishing cost–effective, integrated healthcare information exchange between hospital and ambulatory settings.

RelayHealth provides a patient-centric interoperable health information exchange platform to its health system customers to help support care coordination throughout the organization and to other local, regional and state exchanges.

InteliChart provides a suite of connectivity solutions for patients, providers and their communities designed to enhance communications and integration between ambulatory and acute settings.

Together InteliChart and RelayHealth will provide cost effective hospital – practice connectivity, providing key benefits to Health Systems, Hospitals and community practices. Today many practices are financially unable to participate in the true exchange of health information due primarily to the high costs of vendor interfaces. The InteliChart interoperability suite of interfaces provides a cost effective alternative allowing practices of all size to participate in the exchange of discrete data elements and documents. The Interoperability suite of Interfaces will include Results (Laboratory, Radiology, Transcription), Orders (Laboratory, Radiology), Patient Identification (ADT), Longitudinal Patient Record (CCD) and Patient Engagement (SSI). Enabling more practices to participate in the community exchange process increases the over-all value of the HIE.

“The agreement between RelayHealth and InteliChart is an important step in completing the last mile of connectivity,” said Gary Hamilton, president, InteliChart. “Unfortunately many organizations are forced to settle for the exchange of documents which makes it difficult to perform analytics. The interoperability suite of interfaces provides usable information for physicians, hospitals and their patients.”

“The published meaningful use stage two rule makes it clear that interoperability will be a key need for hospitals and health systems,” said Jeff Felton, President, RelayHealth. “Health systems are seeking interoperable answers that don’t require all information-exchanging parties to adopt the same technology. This agreement with InteliChart will help these organizations find the solutions they need.”
